Lazy Sunday - Call me Mellow

Lazy sunday and top of the shuffle pile this week is a track from Tears for Fears come back lp. Back together after the bitterest of divorces that in part was played out in each other's song lyrics, the lp on the whole consisted of straight forward pop songs with a Beatlesy tinge. This track has a good singalong chorus

  1. As a massive TFF fan, I was elated to see that Roland and Curt could bury the hatchet deep enough to produce such a really great album in Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. I will admit that I am unashamedly fond of the two TFF albums which don't include Curt Smith as well as Roland Orzabal's solo album. Curt's solo work didn't seem to have a real focus, but I think there is a lot of his influence on the reunion album. They have made a post reunion career of playing a lot of European festivals and Proms tours, I hope they get back in the studio and give us some more magic.

  2. Hi
I've not heard any of Curt Smith's solo stuff I kind of guessed it may be a tad too smooth.
I think Kings of Spain is a great lp and the one that RO released under his own name sounded like he really let his hair down (it was at when he had that odd wavy long haired look so there wasa lot to let down)

  3. I have to agree with you. I've never been a fan of "concept" albums, but the really obscure Cathar/Spanish Inquisition thread through some of the songs was so over the top, but also quite emotional. Elemental is just full on venom thrust through the speakers, mind I really enjoyed it!
Yes Curt tried too hard to be a pop star as a solo artist. And yes again, Roland made a solo album that he could listen to and enjoy and I enjoyed it as well.

  4. I really liked both Elemental and Raoul and the Kings Of Spain and then for some reason I lost track, I will have to check out RO's other album and this one too.

Have I mentioned that you costing me a fortune? And I sincerely appreciate it, loads of great stuff every time I stop by :).

  5. Cheers Greer - The Roland lp is Tomcats screaming outside
